  19. Things brings up a question.  My wife is in a support group for
  20. cancer spouses, and one of their husbands has the same problem.
  21. He is currently taking interferon and going down to M.D.Anderson
  22. every three months.  It is expected that he needs a bone marrow 
  23. transplant to survive.  They have found someone that *almost* matches,
  24. and they are willing to make an attempt if nothing better happens.
  25. (BTW, his two brothers are exact matches....for each other)

  27. So my wife decided to get typed.  But they wont let her.  They
  28. insist that we cant give blood or even have our marrow typed
  29. because we have been in a malarial region within the past 3 years.
  30. I guess I can understand why they don't want her blood, but why
  31. do they refuse to even type her marrow?  For that matter, can 
  32. someone who has had cancer donate marrow?  The blood bank wontt
  33. take blood from anyone that has had cancer within the past 10
  34. years.
