  12. In response to John Kraft who suggested a look at Terror Mgmt Theory
  13. as a new addition to social psych, I would have to concur - but
  14. only because my social psych class was taught by Dr. Pyszczynski.

  16. Interestingly, I found that Terror Mgmt. Theory not only encompasses
  17. a variety of social psych findings (Festinger, Just World, Self-Ver (Swann),
  18. etc.) but also accounts for some psychoanalytical findings (such as
  19. and from my own paper, I believe it may explain certain characteristics
  20. of clinical anomalies, such as self-mutilation and suicide.

  22. Tom comes back from Germany in January - so if anyone would like to
  23. begin a discussion on this topic - I'd be happy to ask the man at the
  24. top.  He was highly influenced by the work of Ernst Becker, particularly
  25. Death and Dying, and , oops, can't think of the title off the top of my
  26. head.  He and his co-auths proclaim to have been sitting around one night
  27. waxing Becker et al. and came up with the original ideafor TMT.  He also
  28. plays in a local reggae band - and is really willing to chat with students.
