  16. MTU stands for "Media Transfer Unit".  This is essentially the MAXIMUM frame
  17. size for the medium you are using.  For Ethernet, the MTU is 1514
  18. octets (or 1518 if you count the Frame Check Sequence as part of the
  19. frame).

  21. I don't know what a good MTU is for MacSLIP.  On our HP9000's, I
  22. believe it is set to 1006.
