-
- Look at the minimum stats for the different races, vs. the minimum
- stats for the different classes, and pick the race/class combination
- that requires the fewest bonus points to achieve. The Wizardry 6 manual
- was kind enough to include a table summarizing this information.
-
- From that table:
-
- Psionic: Mook
- Bishop: Elf (Gnome is next)
- Samurai: Faerie or Felpurr
- Monk: Felpurr (Elf is next)
- Ninja: Dwarf, Dracon or Felpurr (Elf, Lizardman, and Human are close)
- Lord: Rawulf (Human, Elf, Gnome, and Hobbit are next)
-
- I don't list the other classes because they're pretty easy to qualify
- for (but again much easier for some races than others).
-
- Note that the Wizardry 6 manual has different requirements for male and
- female characters, but Wizardry 7 doesn't seem to do this, so I glossed
- over that when giving the suggestions above. You can look at the stat
- requirements for races and classes listed in the Wiz 7 manual to see
- what the exact numbers are.
-
-
- Another way to get to one of the good classes is to start with one whose
- requirements are similar, but not as hard to achieve, and then switch
- classes later. For example, start as a Ranger or Bard (both fairly
- useful classes at the beginning of the game, but underpowered later),
- and switch to Ninja when you can qualify.
-
-
- Even with these hints, it takes a lot of persistence to get a Lord or
- a Ninja as a starting character. I managed to get a Human Lord after
- maybe 15-20 minutes (it'd be *real* nice if the program would let you
- hit ESC or something without having to go through the whole character
- generation process with a character you're not planning to keep -- I
- think they probably did this intentionally to make it more difficult
- to generate the more powerful starting characters).
