- This really depends on who you consider to be the 'community'.
-
- I hardly find it surprising that games designed on/for the amiga would
- get better reviews than games that are ported. For the 68000 crowd,
- some of these ports haven't really been playable; and at the same time
- they see spiffy 7 parallax side scrollers that move at 20-30 fps, and
- know that they aren't getting what they want.
-
- On the other hand, I'm strongly drawn toward the ports since they have
- a tendency to be much more playable on faster machines. In general I
- can count on being able to play Ultima VI, and Space Quest 4 on my '030,
- while most of the ingenous 68000 hacks fail miserably.

- It's a question of trade-offs. Sierra could spend the time to speed up
- their game on this platform, or use the same time to develop a new game
- for another platform. I can well imagine their desire to go for the quick
- port.... get the engine to compile, cobble in some compatibility routines
- for the graphics and sound, and sell it. Sierra has enough of a reputation
- in the PC market not to need to develop in a less competitive one. And
- since they don't need to, they aren't likely to take the trouble and time
- to program a truly Amiga oriented program.
