- Did you try the raw transfer speed ie.
- "time dd if=/dev/rawddevice of=/dev/null bs=xx count = nnnn"

- The result from this can give you a clue if it is the filesystem
- that is badly configured or if the problem is the drive itself. I can assure
- you that the Micropolis drives can be positioned in the absolute top when
- transfer speed is concerned. (Compared of course to other drives of
- the same generation)
