- Laurie missed a key piece. We are supposed to eat for hunger reasons
- only. No more stuffing our face because food is there or because we're
- anxious or sad or happy. So there are two hard parts to Roth's program.
- One is that you have to believe that you can eat like a normal person.
- Most of us lifelong overeaters cannot believe that we can control ourselves
- around food like that. The second hard part is to actually face the
- feelings that overeating is helping us to avoid (and sometimes these
- feelings are simply that we'd feel deprived if we didn't eat the entire
- box of Oreos).

- Of course, I believe that there can be a physiological component to
- overeating (related to blood insulin levels) for many overeaters. If so,
- eating until satisfied could be a big problem.
