- Hi;
-
- I just joined this list, don't know whether this topic has been discussed.
- I tried to make the ASE link between ACAD R12 and dBASE IV. What I understand
- is there are three items, DBMS, DB, and TABLE. While DBMS means a SOFTWARE
- SYSTEM, such as dBASE, DB is for a SUBDIRECTORY (under DOS) where a database
- file resides, and TABLE is a database file (dBASE term.). So far, I'm able
- to set the DBMS (select DBASE4) using asesetdbms command. However, I have
- difficulty in the second step, setting DB using asesetdb command. I used
- DOS set command to setup an envrionment which pointed to the subdirectory,
- then I use that variable in response to asesetdb. As I understand, there is
- no USERNAME nor PASSWORD required if I use dBASE IV, so I press Enter twice
- in response to them, then the message "Error opening database" shows up.
-
- Do I miss something ? I couldn't find an explaination of this message in
- AutoCAD manual(s). And I don't understand why it sounds that AutoCAD tries
- to open a database while the asesetdb is to set a SUBDIRECTORY.
-
- I'll appreciate any help/suggestions.
