  23. .recharged with Freon-12, the the stuff they use in it now.  The
  24. .use of Freon-12 will be banned.

  30. due to demand and increasing excise taxes, it will get more
  31. expensive to obtain.  Donald, don't answer questions unless

  37. .years.  So the Freon leaks out.  No Freon, no cool.  With no replacement

  44. .There are some proposed alternatives.  They have several disadvantages.
  45. .Freon-134a is a proposed alternative.  Unfortunately, it doesn't cool
  46. .very well in systems designed for Freon-12.  In addition, it doesn't help
  47. .carry lubricating oil back to the compressor.  The oil winds up in low
  48. .spots of the system, away from the compressor.  Without oil, the compressor
  49. .quickly fails.  Also, this Freon has a nasty habit of chemically reacting
  50. .with any water or dirt in the system, forming acids which then eat the
  51. .components of the system.

  57. .the disadvantages listed above to some degree, plus some additional
