  11. All the work on deterministic self-similarity, iterated function systems etc
  12. has its basis on the 1981 paper "Fractals and Self Similarity" by one
  13. J. E. Hutchinson, from the Australian National University at Canberra.
  14. This pioneering paper is extremely impressive and deep, but (to my knowledge)
  15. the author has no prior or later publications at all.  This despite a hint
  16. in that paper that more was to follow.

  18. Does anyone have any idea who this guy was or what happened to him?  I find
  19. it strange how such a seminal work could just appear from Australia and
  20. the author never publish again.
