  3. The Commodore 64 Monitor cable

  5. DIN plug to 4 RCA plugs

  7. Important notes:

  9. On circuit diagrams, plugs are
  10. displayed as viewed from the back
  11. side, the solder side. Chips are
  12. displayed as viewed from above; also,
  13. see the small semicircular cut for
  14. finding the correct orientation.

  16. Construction:

  18. You need the following parts to build
  19. this cable:
  20.  
  21. One solderable 8-pin male DIN plug
  22.  
  23. Four solderable male RCA plugs,
  24. preferably, in red, black, yellow and
  25. white colors
  26.  
  27. Four shielded 1-wire cables of,
  28. preferably, at most 2 meters each; the
  29. impendance should be 75 Ohm but an
  30. audio cable should also work
  31.  
  32. Step 1. Solder one end of each cable
  33. onto the DIN plug.
  34.  
  35. Step 2. Solder the other ends of the
  36. cables onto the tip of each of the four
  37. RCA plugs.

  40. You should have the following
  41. connections:

  43. DIN plug RCA plug
  44. 1, Luminance Black
  45. 3, Audio Out White
  46. 4, Video Out Yellow
  47. 6, Chrominance Red

  49. Step 3. Connect pin 2 (GND) of the
  50. DIN plug to the outer ring of all four
  51. RCA plugs.

  81. onto the S-Video plug.

  83. Step 2. Solder the other ends of the
  84. cables onto the tips and the outer
  85. rings of each of the two RCA ports. You
  86. should have the following connections:

  89. 1, Chroma GND Red, ring
  90. 2, Chrominance Red, tip
  91. 3, Luminance Black, tip
  92. 4, Luma GND Black, ring
