  13.   INTRODUCTION
  14.  
  15.   Welcome to NetWare Server for UnixWare installation. The 
  16.   following screens provide a short tutorial on the operation of 
  17.   this installation program.

  20.   NETWARE SERVER INSTALLATION
  21.  
  22.   NetWare Server installation operates in two parts: installation of 
  23.   the NetWare Server software and installation of NetWare Directory 
  24.   Services. You are now in the installation of the NetWare Server. 
  25.  
  26.   This part of the installation performs the following steps: 
  27.     * Offers a simple or custom installation approach 
  28.     * Copies the software to your system
  29.

  32.   In simple installation, all configuration options are automatically 
  33.   selected for you.
  34.  
  35.   The custom installation approach allows you to specify the identity 
  36.   of the NetWare Server on the network, specify NetWare SYS volume 
  37.   parameters, add NetWare user licenses, and specify the storage 
  38.   locations of the NetWare Server software on the UnixWare file system.
  39.  
  40.   After the software has been copied, the following configuration is 
  41.   automatically performed:
  42.     *  The NetWare kernel drivers are linked into the UnixWare kernel
  43.     *  NetWare is configured to support the specified number of licensed 
  44.        users

  51.   After this installation completes, you will need to log in to UnixWare 
  52.   as the system owner and install NetWare Directory Services.

  55.   REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE FOR CUSTOM INSTALLATION
  56.  
  57.   The custom installation process takes you through several screens and 
  58.   asks various configuration questions:
  59.  
  60.   Which software components should be installed? Choose from:
  61.     *  NetWare Server for UnixWare
  62.     *  NetWare Client Kit
  63.  
  64.

  70.   If you select NetWare Server for UnixWare, you need to know the 
  71.   following:
  72.     *  The name for this NetWare server
  73.     *  The IPX internal network number
  74.     *  Should NetWare be started automatically when UnixWare is booted
  75.     *  The size and layout of the UnixWare file system, in order to 
  76.        specify the location of the SYS volume and the location of the
  77.        SYS volume control directory
  78.     *  The types of clients (DOS, Windows, or OS/2) accessing this 
  79.        NetWare server

  81.   If you select the NetWare Client kit, you need to know the following:
  82.     *  The types of clients (DOS, Windows, or OS/2) accessing this NetWare 
  83.        server
  84.     *  The size and layout of the UnixWare file system, in order to 
  85.        specify the location of the client kit diskette images

  89.   DIRECTORY SERVICES INSTALLATION
  90.  
  91.   The Directory Services installation program is started by typing
  92.   the command 'scoadmin directory services install'.  Directory Services
  93.   installation asks you to specify the following:
  94.  
  95.     *  Directory Services tree name
  96.     *  Time synchronization type
  97.     *  The server context (the location of this server within the tree)
  98.     *  A NetWare ADMIN user password
  99.  
  100.   Please refer to the NetWare Server for UnixWare Installation 
  101.   handbook for detailed instructions on configuring Directory 
  102.   Services on your system.

  108.   INSTALLATION INPUT METHODS
  109.  
  110.   NetWare Server installation is screen oriented with two input 
  111.   methods:
  112.  
  113.     1- A list of choices. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor 
  114.        on the desired choice and press ENTER. 
  115.  
  116.     2- A text box. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor on the 
  117.        desired text box and then type in the desired value. On some 
  118.        text boxes, there are a limited number supported values. Use 
  119.        the F2 key in these instances to display a list of valid 
  120.        choices. Select one of the valid choices with the arrow keys 
  121.        and then press ENTER. These instances are always clearly 
  122.        indicated on bottom of the screen.

  127.   At the bottom of each screen is a hint bar. Read the hint bar for  
  128.   help on which keys to press to navigate the screen, or to continue
  129.   to the next screen.

  131.   Help is always available at any time by pressing F1.

  134.   QUITTING THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM
  135.  
  136.   To properly install and configure the NetWare Server, you must
  137.   complete both the installation of the NetWare Server software and
  138.   the installation of Directory Services.
  139.  
  140.   Although it is not recommended, you can quit the installation by 
  141.   selecting 'Exit without installing'. Selecting this menu item will 
  142.   in no way modify your UnixWare system.
