4.0 DEMO CONTENT
==================================================================================
This playable demo provides a taste of the full game, allowing you to race a three lap
ACTION race at Monza on Carl Fogarty's DUCATI 916 against 7 computer controlled riders.
You can also view the setup options and telemetry monitor available in the Simulation
mode of the full game.
You may also tune the graphics options and control setup to best suit your computer's
performance and your own controller preferences.
4.1 DIFFICULTY SETTINGS
=======================
This demo includes two of the four difficulty levels found in the full game - BEGINNER
and AMATEUR. To change the difficulty setting enter the GAME options screen from the
OPTIONS menu displayed after you have entered your name in ACTION mode.
Beginner Difficulty (DEFAULT)
-----------------------------
The computer riders will travel at lower speeds and your bike will
automatically brake as you approach bends in the track.
You will be able to receive 4 black flag warnings before you are disqualified.
Amateur Difficulty
------------------
The computer riders will travel at slightly increased speeds. Your bike will NOT brake
automatically as it approaches bends.
You will be able to receive 3 black flag warnings before you are disqualified.
4.2 FLAGS & DISQUALIFICATION
============================
This section details the basic flags which are in operation during the race.
Note: The black flag rule is always active in this demo.
Black Flag
----------
If you see this flag you're in trouble with the race officials as you have either tried
riding the wrong way around the course or have cut off sections of the track to take a
quicker route.
If the flag flashes briefly and then disappears, the race officials have decided to let
you race on. If you continue to infringe the rules you are likely to be disqualified.
If the flag remains on screen and is accompanied by your name and race number - you're out
of the race. The number of warnings you are given depends on the current Difficulty setting
in the Game menu under Options.
Yellow Flag
-----------
This flag is used to indicate an obstruction on the track. It is generally displayed if
an accident has occurred in front of you.
Blue Flag
---------
If you are shown this flag, it indicates that the approaching rider is about to lap you.
You should allow the incoming rider to go past you without obstructing him.
4.3 GRAPHICS CONFIGURATION
==========================
As graphical detail relies heavily on processor speed and the power, memory and
functions supported by your video card, the settings within the Graphics configuration
screen are crucial to the game's performance. The higher the detail, the more processing
is required. On slower machines high detail will cause the game to slow down or run
erratically.
To access the graphics options screen, press SINGLE PLAYER GAME, ACTION, enter your name,
press OPTIONS and then GRAPHICS.
Rendering Options
-----------------
The Rendering option screen will allow you to select the display device used by the game.
Software: If you only have a standard 2D video card, you will only be able to select the
Software option. This provides support for resolutions of 320x200 and 640x480
and will provide the lowest rendering performance.
Direct 3D: This option is available to you if you have a Direct 3D compatible video card
and provides improved graphical performance. Please ensure that your video
card is listed as one of those supported by this demo.
Detail Level Slider
-------------------
To simplify configuration of the graphical detail options, a slider bar is provided at the
top of the screen. The slider will allow you to set the graphics up as follows:
Custom: Provides full control of all graphics settings.
Low: Ideal for computers that only meet the minimum requirement specification. It uses
a short view depth (see below) and switches off most of the graphics options.
Medium: Medium graphical detail. A good balance between speed and graphics.
High: Most detail options are switched On and set to a high level. This mode
requires a good 3D card.
Very High: All options set very high. This mode is only for computers with powerful
processors and fast 3D cards.
Screen Resolution
-----------------
The screen resolution at which you can run the game depends on the rendering option
selected (see above) and the functionality of your 3D card. Selecting a higher resolution
will generally result in better picture quality but lower performance.
Using the Custom Detail Setting
-------------------------------
If you have moved the Detail Level slider on the Graphics Options screen to Custom, you
can modify each graphic option individually.
View Depth
----------
Determines at what distance, in metres, the track and track-side objects become
visible. A high value will result in less pop-up and slower performance. If you have a
slower machine, reducing this value below 500 metres will improve game performance.
Bike and Rider Detail
---------------------
If you are running the game on a slower machine, especially with software rendering
at 320x200, you may wish to reduce the detail of the opponents' bike and rider to improve
performance.
Track Detail
------------
This option allows you to increase or decrease the detail of the track and the objects
around it. Reducing the track detail will improve game performance.
Graphics Detail
---------------
This option increases or decreases the quality of the graphics on the riders, bikes and
circuit. For optimum performance leave this value at the low setting. If the game runs very erratically you
should reduce this value.

5.0 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
============================================================================================
If you experience any problems whilst installing or running this demo please read
through the following paragraphs.
5.1 Video Problems
==================
Superbike World Championship requires that your computer has a correctly installed,
Direct X 6 compatible video card with a minimum of 4MB of RAM. This game will not run
if your computer does not meet these requirements.
Due to the performance and functionality differences between video cards, some problems
may occur when running the game with certain video card configurations. It is strongly
suggested you install the latest drivers, provided by your video card manufacturer, if you
are experiencing any video related problems.
***************
IMPORTANT NOTE: DRIVERS FOR 3DFX VOODOO 1, POWER VR2 AND MATROX M3D CHIPSETS WILL BE
*************** PROVIDED ON THE FINAL GAME CD.
3Dfx Voodoo 1 chipset
---------------------
You may encounter problems with some video card drivers when running this game on a
3Dfx Voodoo 1 chipset based video card. To overcome these problems please install the
latest 3Dfx Voodoo 1 reference drivers available from the 3Dfx web site (www.3dfx.com).

Matrox M3D
----------
If your computer is fitted with this card you may find that the game displays
corrupted graphics. Installing the latest video drivers from your video card manufacturer
can rectify this problem. To obtain the latest drivers point your web browser at:
http://www.matrox.com/mga/drivers/latest_drivers/home.htm
Power VR PCX2 (Apocalypse 3Dx)
------------------------------
If your computer is fitted with this card you may find that the game displays corrupted
graphics. Installing the latest video drivers from your video card manufacturer can rectify
this problem.
Note: Apocalypse 3Dx owners should first try the Apocalypse 3Dx product drivers as
generic drivers are not supported by the card manufacturer and may have sub-optimal
performance.
Intel i740 chipset
------------------
If your machine is fitted with this video card and your Windows desktop is set to
1024 x 768 or higher with 24bit colour, you may find that the game fails to run and a
Direct 3D error message is displayed.
This problem can be remedied by reducing colour depth to 16 bit from the Settings dialog
within Control Panel's Display Properties. Please refer to your MS Windows and video card
documentation for further details.
5.2 General Questions and Answers
=================================
Q.The game seems to run slowly.
This can be due to a number of game aspects. The main causes are resolution, available
computer RAM, graphical detail, number of bikes and rendering method. Please try reducing
the demo's graphical detail options.
Q.Why does my bike seem to slow down even though I'm not applying the brakes?
This is a riding aid that is activated when Beginner difficulty level is set in Action
mode. Switch to Amateur from Action mode's Options menu to turn this speed help off.
Q.I can't play my music CD from the game.
As the game plays music from data files not from CD audio tracks you will not be able to
play your own audio CDs from inside the game.
Q.I have configured and calibrated my game controller in Windows Control Panel but I still
cannot control my bike in a race.
This is probably due to incorrect settings in the game's Controls option screen. Select
Options and then Controls and check that you have set up the game controls for your game
controller.
Q.When I attempt to select my 3D card as the rendering device the only available option is
'software'.
This could be due to either your machine not having a Direct 3D compatible 3D graphics card
or your 3D graphics card is wrongly installed or faulty. Please refer to your 3D graphics
card user guide for more information.
