  2. Installing IBM LAN Server 4.0 for DOS and OS/2

  8. This procedure describes how to install  
  9. the NDIS driver for LAN Server 4.0.  OS/2 
  10. must already be installed on your computer.  
  11. To install the NDIS driver for the 3C562 EtherLink III
  12. LAN+Modem PC Card, follow these steps:
  13.  
  14. 1.  Open an OS/2  prompt.
  15.  
  16. 2.  Insert the LAN Server MPTS (Multi-Protocol Transport 
  17.     Services) disk 1 in your diskette 
  18.     drive.  
  19.  
  20. 3.  Make that drive your current drive.  Type: 
  21.      A: [Enter]
  22.  
  23. 4.  Type:
  24.          Install [Enter]
  25.  
  26. 5.  Select OK.
  27.  
  28. 6.  Select Install.
  29.  
  30. 7.  Select a target drive and then choose OK,
  31.  
  32.          The default drive is C.
  33.  
  34. 8.  Insert disk 2 when prompted and select OK.
  35.  
  36. 9.  Select OK when the MPTS installation is complete.  
  37.  
  38. 10. Select  Configure.
  39.  
  40. 11. Select LAN Adapters and Protocols 
  41.     and then choose Configure.
  42.  
  43. 12. Select Other Adapters.
  44.  
  45. 13. Insert the 3Com EtherDisk diskette in the 
  46.     diskette drive and enter the drive letter and path to 
  47.     the 3Com NDIS drivers.  For example, type:
  48.  
  49.          A:\NDIS\OS2
  50.  
  51. 14. Select OK.
  52.  
  53. 15. From the list of Network Adapters, select 
  54.     3Com EtherLink III LAN+Modem PC Card for OS/2 
  55.     and then choose Add. 
  56.  
  57. 16. Under Current Configuration, select 3Com 
  58.     EtherLink III PC Card LAN + Modem for OS/2 and then choose 
  59.     Edit. 
  60.  
  61. 17. Enter the 12-digit address of your EtherLink 
  62.     III LAN+Modem PC Card in the Network Adapter Address 
  63.     box and then choose OK. 
  64.  
  65.          The address is found on the back of the 
  66.          PC Card following the characters EA=.  
  67.  
  68. 18. Select the protocol(s) you will be using with 
  69.     your network and then choose Add.  
  70.  
  71. 19. Select your protocol(s) under Current 
  72.     Configuration and then choose Edit.
  73.  
  74. 20. Enter the 12-digit address of your 
  75.     EtherLink III LAN+Modem PC Card and then choose OK.

  77. 21. Select  OK.

  79. 22. Select  Close.

  81. 23. Select  Exit.

  83. 24. Select Update CONFIG.SYS and choose Exit.

  85. 25. Select OK.

  89. 27. Quit OS/2 and reboot for the changes to take effect.

  91. 28. Follow the IBM instructions on installing 
  92.     LAN Server to complete the installation.

  100. IBM DOS Lan Services Install v4.0

  102.  
  103. 1.  Insert the disk labeled "Dos Lan Services Disk 1" into 
  104.     your disk drive.
  105.  
  106. 2.  Change to that drive and type in "INSTALL"
  107.  
  108. 3.  Choose the directory you want the software installed to
  109.   . The default is "C:\NET".
  110.  
  111. 4.  A menu will appear that provides a list of  Network Cards
  112.   . Choose "Network card not shown in the list below..." 
  113.  
  114. 5.  Type in "A:\IBM_40 and remove the "Dos Lan Services Disk 1"
  115.     diskette and insert the EtherDisk.
  116.  
  117. 6.  The next menu should display "3Com 3C562 EtherLink III 
  118.     PC Card.
  119.  
  120. 7.  Additional menus will appear, choose the appropriate options
  121.     for your network environment. Refer to the IBM manual if 
  122.     there are questions regarding these menus.
  123.  
  124. 8.  After completing the installation you must copy ELPC3X.DOS 
  125.     and 3CELCM.EXE to C:\NET before rebooting.

  132.    In order for the modem to function correctly 
  133. in MS Windows, add the following commands to your 
  134. Windows  SYSTEM.INI file under the [386Enh] category:
