This Software was written by Norbert Heller
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Startup Parameters ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
To specify, which CD ROM to use, please look up the names of the Devices in the
MMPM/2 Setup
By default, the same CD Rom is used, that is selected as default CDAUDIO in the
MMPM/2 setup.
Albatros CD Player can be started with a parameter :
alb_cd cdaudio
alb_cd cdaudio01
alb_cd cdaudio02
alb_cd cdaudio03
alb_cd ...
The same startup parameters apply, when you have a changer CD ROM (a CD Rom
with a caddy, that can hold up to 10 cd's)
Here you can also specify the parameter to select, which CD to play.
Note
Just in case the player does not start anymore, maybe because you selected the
wrong CDAUDIO device in the settings, start the Albatros CD Player with the
last "known good" parameter
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Main Panel ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Click on an area to see the explanation on the display of Albatros CD Player
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Popup Menu ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
By clicking the right mouse button on the main display panel, you will see a
popup menu with several options

Albatros will continuously play a user-defined portion of the disc. During this
time you will not be able to select tracks from the music calendar.
To select the beginning of the sequence press [
To select the end of the sequence press ] This button can only will be active

The length of the time the tracks are played may be customized in the settings
notebook, and is set initially to 15 seconds. After all tracks have been
played, Albatros returns to the beginning of track 1.
program play
Here you will be able to play all the tracks chosen in the program setup.
Of course albatros cannot play a program, if none was selected in the setup
page.
The program will be saved for the appropriate CD, and will be loaded the next
time, this same CD is in the player again
Therefore each audio CD may have a separate program.

Here you will be able to play and repeat all the tracks chosen in the program
setup.
program random
Here you will be able to randomly play all the tracks chosen in the program

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.3. Page "wave" ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
On this page you can convert your cd rom tracks into WAV Files (which may be
played with the Albatros Media Player)
If Albatros found that your CD ROM can digitally read out tracks, then you find
these options enabled, otherwise these options will not be enabled (and then of
course you can't use them)
entryfield
Type in the Drive Letter of your cd rom, in this example drive H:
get tr
After you specified a drive letter, press Get tracks which will "disconnect"
the player, read out the cd tracks and shows you the name of the tracks in the
container (if you specified the track names prior in the "Info" page)
container
Select now one or more tracks you wish to convert into Wav files.
They Wav files will be saved in the same Directory as the Albatros CD Player
and have the same name as the CD titles you want to convert.
In case you have not entered any CD titles, then the Wav files will be saved as
"track1.wav", "track2.wav", etc.
write
After you selected the tracks, press this button and the conversion process
will start
re-init
After you successfully converted the cd tracks and wish to continue playing the
CD, press this button to "re-initialise" the cd player part
Note
The sampled wave data is stored in 44khz / 16bit / stereo
The conversion of a CD track takes the same time that is used to play the
track (reads single speed)
While you are converting a cd track, you cannot close the settings
notebook, and should not close the main player (or "kill" the player
otherwise)
If Albatros CD Player reports, that the CD ROM can use "digital
transfer", this does not neccessarily mean, that the CD ROM also supports
Digital Readout !
Many drives do not support Audio CD track reading over the data bus. This
ability is more widespread among SCSI drives than among IDE or ATAPI
drives.
Some CD ROMs claim they can read out digital and even start converting,
but then fail on reading the first track (this is due to "el-cheapo"
programming of the cd rom).
When this happens, you will find a "wav file" with the size of 44 bytes.
You can then delete this file, because it contains no data.
Known CD ROMs that behave like this are
- Mitsumi ATAPI Drives (8* / 12* speed)
- Sony IDE Drives (the 56x or 54x Series)
Some CD ROMs successfully convert tracks into Wav Data, but the Wav File
will sound very "crackling"
This is due to incorrect sector recalibration of some drives, along with
missing error correction
Known CD ROMs that behave like this are
- Toshiba 3501b
Drives that are reported to work (no guarantee)
- Apple CD300
- Sony CDU31a, Sony CDU76e (IDE), Sony CDU76S (SCSI)
- Toshiba 3401, Toshiba 3601, Toshiba 3701B, Toshiba XM5201B, Toshiba
XM5301TA
- Plextor
- Nec 6*speed SCSI
Drives that are reported not to work
- Mitsumi FX001 (IDE)
- NEC 2x (SCSI), NEC 3xi (SCSI), NEC CDR-500 (SCSI), NEC512 (SCSI)
- Panasonic CR-562B
- Philips PCA52R (IDE)
- Teac CD55A

icons are no longer 40*40 , but 32*32 in size, and all dialog boxes appear a
little bit smaller in size.
Small display
This option is intended to be used on "patched" displays
CDAUDIO
Use this drop-down list to select the CD ROM Device you wish to use for
playback
In case you started Albatros CD Player with a command line parameter, this CD
ROM Device will also be displayed here.
Note
When you are currently playing a CD in one drive (cdaudio) and also have
another audio CD in a second drive (cdaudio01), you can select this new
device here (cdaudio01), and press eject on the main panel.
This will cause the currently playing CD to eject. The CD from the other
drive will automatically be loaded after this.
This feature can also be used for Jukeboxes, to play multiple audio cd's
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5.7. Page "autoplay" ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Here you can select the autoplay options, how Albatros CD Player should behave
when the player is started, or when a new CD is inserted after "eject"
The selectable options should be self explaining

Type in your registration name and code number when you have received your
registration key.
This information is saved when the Settings Notebook is closed.
In case the entered data is correct, the player will be "registered" the next
time you start it.
Note
In case the player still displays "UNREGISTERED" the next startup, make sure
you entered the data in the correct form as shown here
An example of an incorrect form
The easiest way is to copy/paste the data into the appropriate entryfields,
when you received an email registration
ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 6. WPS Integration ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
You can drop colors from the color palette to the display elements
This will work for all display elements shown in the main display
You can drop fonts from the font palette valueset

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 8. License ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
Albatros CD/Media Player is shareware. You are allowed to test and use this program for
30 days. After this period you must register your copy, if you want to continue to
use it. This 30 day period applies only to versions 2.x and above.
You may distribute the shareware version of Albatros CD/Media Player, either through
electronic media e.g. BBS's or on diskettes. You may charge for the
distribution, but not more than $2. You may distribute only the complete
and unaltered archive as supplied by the author.
You may install the registered version on more than one machine. However, you
must make sure that it is only used on one machine at a time. As soon as one license
is used on more than one machine at a time, you need additional licenses.
The author does not guarantee for the correctness of the program. The author
also may not be held responsible for any loss of data or other damages caused by
the use of Albatros CD/Media Player. The author does not guarantee that the program can be used for a
specific purpose.
If you like to distribute the program in conjunction with commercial software
or hardware ("bundling"), you must have a written permission of the author
to do so.
If Albatros CD/Media Player is to be included in a collection of other freeware or
shareware programs on CD-ROM or diskette, written permission by the author is required
and a free copy of the cd rom has to be send to the author as a proof of the shareware concept.
If you aquired this licence to update a licence for a previous version,
the licence for the previous version thereby expires.
A licence always is a version licence, i.e. it is valid for all versions
of the program that have the same major version number. You need to
aquire a new licence when the new version has a major version number that
is different from that of the older version.
You're not allowed to give a registration key to third parties.
If you distribute this program in compressed form ("archived"), you must use
a format that supports long file names and extended attributes.
Program Versions that are explicitely labeled "BETA" are NOT to be put on any CD ROM nor are
