The WordPerfect Workspace folder is a special type of folder that allows you to
organize your WordPerfect document objects more easily than a regular folder
object. Workspace folders will open in Details view by default, where you can
see the WordPerfect document details (for example, Author and Typist).
In addition, the Workspace folder automatically has the Work Area folder
property turned on, so that when you open the folder it will automatically
re-open all of the open documents within it, and when you close the folder the
documents that are open will also close. Using the Work Area property allows

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 36. Help for WordPerfect Printer ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
A WordPerfect printer object works much like an OS/2 printer object. However,
if you drag and drop on a WP Printer object, WordPerfect 6.0a for Windows will
try to print the document(s) using its own WordPerfect print drivers, rather
than the OS/2 or Win-OS/2 print subsystem.
Therefore, using WordPerfect printer objects may allow you to print documents
to printers not supported by OS/2 or Win-OS/2.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 37. Help for Summary ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
This Settings page displays the document summary details stored within this
WordPerfect document object.
To edit the document summary details, type the new text you want into this
Settings page, and the changes will be automatically saved to the document. In
addition, the document summary can also be edited from WordPerfect 6.0a for

detail, or you can include only those document objects that match a given
document summary criteria (for example, include only documents that match a
given Author name).
Refer to the help information provided on the following Settings notebook pages
of any folder object for further information about how to display, sort by, and
include by the document summary details:
o View (page 3 of 3)
o Include (WordPerfect 6.0a Document Criteria page)
o Sort
NOTE: You must select WordPerfect 6.0a Document in the Object type list box in
order to activate the use of the document summary details.

ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 38. Help for WordPerfect Printers Folder ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
In the Win-OS/2 system, printer definitions can be created in four ways:
o Windows drivers in your public .BIF
o Windows drivers in your private .BIF
o WordPerfect drivers in your public .BIF
o WordPerfect drivers in your private .BIF
When WordPerfect is first invoked, WordPerfect places all WordPerfect printer
drivers found in your private and public .BIFs, and all Windows drivers found
in your public .BIF, into the WordPerfect Printers folder. The WordPerfect
Printers folder will be updated each time WordPerfect is invoked.
Windows drivers located in your private .BIF are automatically mapped to the
nearest compatible OS/2 printer driver using the Associate OS/2 Printers with
Windows Printers dialog box.
You can move the printer objects out of the WordPerfect Printers folder or
create a shadow of the printer object. Printers are permanently added or
deleted from your WordPerfect Printers folder as you add and delete printer
definitions from the Select Printer dialog box in WordPerfect.
NOTE: If you delete the WordPerfect Printers folders, all printer objects
found in your private and public .BIFs will appear on the desktop each time
WordPerfect is invoked. If the WordPerfect Printers folder is deleted, you
must use SETUPOS2.EXE /wps to restore it.
When you drag and drop a WordPerfect document object to a printer object,
WordPerfect will print the document in the background.

For information about the recommended configuration for WordPerfect objects,
see WordPerfect 6.0a Settings.
For Systems with 256-Color Palettes
The /sw startup command is added to the sh_sh_.env file when you run SETUP.EXE.
If you are using a 256-color palette, this command will keep the background
colors from changing while running WordPerfect. If you are dragging and
dropping colors, the colors may not display properly, but they will print
properly.
Printing from the network
If you are having difficulty printing from the LPTx printer port when using a
network printer, try using the corresponding LPTx.OS2 printer port.
To use a LPTx.OS2 printer port with a WordPerfect printer driver, you must
print to a file using the filename LPTx.OS2.
