  11. Major scanner update!
  12.  
  13. TbScan:
  14.     -   New signature file! TbScan now has its own signature file, which
  15.         will be updated at least once every month! The new signature has
  16.         many new internal options to find viruses more reliable.
  17.         The good old VirScan.Dat file and the .AVR modules will not be
  18.         used anymore.
  19.  
  20.     -   Most of the signatures in this release of TbScan are converted
  21.         signatures from the VirScan.Dat. About 60 signatures have been
  22.         removed because they were duplicated or not necessary anymore
  23.         since the more flexible new wildcard format enables us to make
  24.         "combination" signatures. About 60 new signatures have been added.
  25.         The old AVR files are also converted to the new TbScan.Sig file.
  26.         The Irish.AVR module was not needed anymore since the virus
  27.         can be found with a signature.

  29.     -   TbScan is now able to bypass every stealth virus. TbScan now uses
  30.         its own internal file system to access files. DOS itself and all
  31.         resident software and viruses are bypassed by this process.
  32.  
  33.     -   TbScan is now faster than ever! The approximate scanning speed
  34.         has been increased by 20-50% !!! (the exact percentage depends
  35.         on your system configuration). This speed improvement was
  36.         necessary because another scanner showed up with a higher speed
  37.         than TbScan... The speed improvement is achieved by the new
  38.         internal file system of TbScan, the new highly optimized and
  39.         preprocessed signature file, and the lack of a scrolling files
  40.         window. Although the speed improvement might seem sensational,
  41.         there is absolutely no decrease of reliability.

  43.     -   Screen lay-out has been changed. On 386/486 machines TbScan became
  44.         so fast that a scrolling files window was not even readable. The
  45.         new paging screen output improves the readability slightly.
  46.  
  47.     -   The scanning algorithm "browsing" has been removed. "Scanning" is
  48.         now used where previously "browsing" would have been used. The
  49.         new signature file causes the gain of the "browsing" algorithm
  50.         to be minimal.
  51.  
  52.     -   The internal disk cacher has been removed. It does not serve any
  53.         functionality anymore since TbScan now has a built-in operating
  54.         system and doesn't use DOS at all.
  55.  
  56.     -   Full language support! All important texts are now contained in
  57.         a file named TbScan.Lng and can be translated if desired.
  58.  
  59.     ->  To run TbScan with complete functionality, you only need the
  60.         following files:
  61.             TbScan.Exe, TbScan.Sig, TbScan.Lng
  62.         The following files are now obsolete and should be deleted:
  63.             TbScan.Msg, TbScan.Hlp, VirScan.Dat AddnSigs.Dat, *.AVR
  64.         The TbScan software now requires less diskspace!

  67.             "valid"   It is no longer possible to modify the signature file.
  68.             "mutant"  Mutant matching is now built-in in the signatures.
  69.             "direct"  TbScan will use direct access automatically.
  70.             "sigfile" The signature file will be read automatically.
  71.             "sector"  The new signatures contain entry-point related
  72.                       wildcards. These signatures can not be searched for
  73.                       in random data.

  76.     -   Option "win32" now works again.
