  2.     The GRASSROOTS Echo rules will be posted monthly.
  3.     PrideNet's GRASSROOTS Echo rules Ver1.0 - 03/03/93

  5. The GRASSROOTS echo is an open political echo and is not fantasy
  6. oriented. GRASSROOTS is for discussion of human rights and political
  7. issues as they relate to LesBiGay folks. 
  8.  
  9. The GRASSROOTS echo is open to all that have an interest in these
  10. issues. This includes behavioral specialists and counselors.
  11. The purpose of the echo is to be  supportive and informative. Any 
  12. group or BBS that wishes to advertise events or conferences that 
  13. may be of interest to all may do so.  They may post the phone 
  14. numbers for the principle contacts for these functions.
  15.  
  16.    A few of the basic rules:
  17.  The GRASSROOTS echo is not a fantasy oriented echo, and messages
  18.  relating to such are not permitted. What is needed is
  19.  constructive input and positive support. Bashing or flaming
  20.  of any individual is not acceptable behavior and will not
  21.  be tolerated. Aliases are encouraged.
  22.  1.   Foul or obscene language belongs on the street, NOT
  23.      in this echo. 
  24.  2.   Challenge the issue, not the person.
  25.  3.   Preaching is best kept to the pulpit and bible specific
  26.      echos but not in this echo, this includes any discussions
  27.      related to any religious philosophies or practices.
  28.  4.   If you disagree with the lifestyle, take your arguments
  29.      to a more appropriate echo.
  30.  5.   Please keep to the topic of the echo. Any communication
  31.      not on-topic will be considered annoying. Discussion of
  32.      sexual activities, posting of personal ads and/or proposals
  33.      for sexual activity are not topics for discussion. When
  34.      in doubt, please netmail the moderator BEFORE posting.
  35.  6.   Aliases (or handles) are permitted and encouraged according
  36.      to the policy of the local Sysop. However, if problems
  37.      arise with postings, that privilege in this echo will be
  38.      withdrawn.
  39.  7.   Private messages are NOT allowed in Grassroots!
  40.  8.   Crossposting any messages or any part of any message that
  41.      has been in GRASSROOTS to any other message area is allowed
  42.      ONLY if the message is posted in its original form, e.g. -
  43.      if all of the "to, from, adress, etc" info is intact.
  44.  9.   Messages from the moderator concerning enforcement of the
  45.      rules are NOT considered off topic, however, neither are
  46.      they topics for general discussion by anyone other than the
  47.      moderator and the person being addressed.
  48.  10.  EchoMail is a priviledge, not a "right". Play nice
  49.  11.  In the event of the moderator's "disappearance" from the
  50.      echo for a period of more than one month or inability to
  51.      perform the functions of a moderator, and no succeeding
  52.      moderator has been appointed, an election will be held
  53.      in the echo for a new moderator. Such election shall be
  54.      accomplished by the simplest means possible. The ZEC may
  55.      assign a temporary moderator to handle the election
  56.      and/or interim during election. Nominations shall be made
  57.      within 20 days
  58.  
  59.  12.   That's it, except that if someone comes up with a new an
  60.      improved way to aggravate all, the moderator reserves the
  61.      right to make a rule to fit the occasion.
