There are no prior requirements for printing an order form. To process a registration serial number, the desired ■■■■-MAN program must already be installed on your hard disk, in the subdirectories defined in you PATH statement. FOR PROPER OPERATION, ALL REQUIRED ■■■■-MAN FILES *MUST* BE PLACED ON PATH REFERENCED SUBDIRECTORIES! Home-HelpMenu Pgdn-More INTRODUCTION For any of the available ■■■■-MAN systems, this program will: 1) Initially install the ■■■■-MAN set of programs on a hard disk. 2) Update it, if it is already present. 3) Remove any or all of the files of a ■■■■-MAN system. 4) Display its README file. 5) Select a method to print a system's documentation. 6) Process the serial number for registered systems. Home-HelpMenu Pgdn-More INTRODUCTION(continued) The program displays its options in window selection menus. In this Help Module, the use of brackets [ ] denotes a specific key. Parenthesis ( ) are used for comments. The border and bottom line of this help display are used for help key data, showing the currently active help action keys and their function. To toggle arrow key blinking, press [DELETE], which also exits help. To normally exit from help, press [ESCAPE], [ENTER] or [F1]. The help display will also pop down after one minute without keyboard activity. Home-HelpMenu Pgdn-More INTRODUCTION(continued) The MAIN MENU functions specify what actions to perform. The TAG function selects any or all of the ■■■■-MAN systems for furtheraction by the INSTALL, ORDER or REGISTER functions. To select a MAIN MENU function press its highlighted letter or move theMAIN MENU highlight bar to the desired function using the cursor control keys and press [ENTER]. To EXIT from the installation program, press [X] or [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu MAIN MENU Before any of the ■■■■-MAN systems may be installed, ordered or regis- tered, they must first be selected and tagged using the TAG function. This function may also be used to display the README file of any systemthat is included on this distribution diskette. Upon program initialization, the TAG function is automatically selected. A happy face shown under the "I"nstalled column heading signifies that the .EXE or .COM file from this system is currently on the hard disk. A box shown under the "D"istribution column heading signifies that thissystem in included on this distribution diskette. The "VER"sion number of the system on the distribution diskette is alsoshown. WHEN THE SYSTEM HIGHLIGHT BAR IS LOCATED ON THE ENTRY "(ALL SYSTEMS)": To toggle the loading status of ALL systems, press [ENTER]. To set the load status of ALL systems, press [INS] "Yes" or [DEL] "No". WHEN THE SYSTEM HIGHLIGHT BAR IS LOCATED ON A SINGLE SYSTEM: To toggle the loading status of the highlighted system, press [ENTER]. To set the load status of a system, press [INS] "Yes" or [DEL] "No". To return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu Pdup-TagFunct Pgdn-DisplayREADME TAG FUNCTION, TOGGLE TAG The README file included with each system on the distribution diskette contains an abstract of the system, special installation instructions and the program release history. To display a system's README file: Move the system highlight bar to the desired system using the [UP]/ [DOWN] keys. Select the TAG option "Display README" by pressing [D] or moving the highlight bar to it using the [LEFT]/[RIGHT] kesy and pressing [ENTER]. To return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu TAG FUNCTION, DISPLAY README The INSTALL MENU options specify what actions to perform on the selected and highlighted ■■■■-MAN system during this installation. The ■■■■-MAN PROGRAMS window displays the names of all of the selected ■■■■-MAN system's files that may be loaded to the hard disk. Those that are displayed in all caps are required: the others are optional. Each line of this display also shows the file's load status and in what PATH directory it is now or will be loaded to. When first displayed, a happy face preceeding the file name and an entry under the HARD DISK PATHsignifies that the file is already present: a '?', not present. The INITIAL/UPGRADE option is initially selected for each system's installation. Home-HelpMenu Pgdn-More INSTALL FUNCTION MENU The INITIAL/UPGRADE options allow selection of which files to process and on which PATH directory to place each of them. To select this option,press [I] if this is an initial installation or [U] if an upgrade or files have been copied. To COPY the files that are specified with "Yes" under LOAD to the hard disk, press [C]. If all files have a LOAD status of "No", this option is not available. To REMOVE the files that are specified with "Yes" under LOAD from the hard disk, press [R]. If all files have a LOAD status of "No" or if this is an initial installation, this option is not available. To tag the DOCUMENTATION for later processing, press [D]. To return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu INSTALL FUNCTION MENU(continued) The LOAD toggle is used to specify selective copying or removal of the ■■■■-MAN files to/from the hard disk. To change the load status of any of the files, set the INITIAL/ UPGRADEhighlight on "Load" with the [LEFT]/[RIGHT] key, press [ENTER] and then - WHEN THE FILE HIGHLIGHT BAR IS LOCATED ON THE ENTRY "(ALL FILES)": To toggle the loading status of ALL files, press [ENTER]. To set the load status of ALL files, press [INS] "Yes" or [DEL] "No". WHEN THE FILE HIGHLIGHT BAR IS LOCATED ON A SINGLE FILE: To toggle the loading status of the highlighted file, press [ENTER]. To set the load status of a file, press [INS] "Yes" or [DEL] "No". To edit the disk path of the highlighted file(s), press [E]. To return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE] Home-HelpMenu INSTALL FUNCTION INITIAL/UPGRADE OPTION LOAD TOGGLE The EDIT disk path - PATH LIST MENU specifies on which PATH directoriesto store the various ■■■■-MAN files. To change the directory on which to load files, set the INITIAL/UPGRADEhighlight on "Edit" with the [LEFT]/[RIGHT] key, press [ENTER] and then - WHEN THE FILE HIGHLIGHT BAR IS LOCATED ON THE ENTRY "(ALL FILES)": Move the PATH LIST highlight bar using the cursor control keys to the desired directory path on which to locate all (or most) of the ■■■■-MAN files and then press [ENTER]. To leave the displayed paths as they are, press [ESCAPE]. WHEN THE FILE HIGHLIGHT BAR IS LOCATED ON A SINGLE FILE: Move the PATH LIST highlight bar using the cursor control keys to the desired directory path on which to locate this file, press [ENTER].Home-HelpMenu INSTALL FUNCTION INITIAL/UPGRADE OPTION EDIT DISK PATH When the marked (LOAD status of "Yes") ■■■■-MAN PROGRAMS files have been copied to the hard disk, a copy message is displayed along with the status of the ■■■■-MAN files on the hard disk. If all of the required ■■■■-MAN files are now on the hard disk, the system may now be run. Pressing any key will return to the INSTALL MENU. If none or only some of of the required ■■■■-MAN files are on the hard disk, ■■■■-MAN WILL NOT RUN. The missing files are highlighted on the ■■■■-MAN PROGRAMS display. In order to load these missing required files,after pressing any key to continue and displaying the INSTALL MENU, return to the ■■■■-MAN PROGRAMS edit by pressing [I] or [U] and then change the LOAD status along with the desired PATH for each of these missing files. Home-HelpMenu INSTALL FUNCTION COPY OPTION MESSAGES When the marked (LOAD status of "Yes") ■■■■-MAN files have been removedfrom the hard disk, a removal message is displayed with the file status. If all of the required ■■■■-MAN files are now on the hard disk, ■■■■- MAN may now be run. Pressing any key will return to the INSTALL MENU. If none or only some of of the required ■■■■-MAN files are on the hard disk, ■■■■-MAN will NOT run. The missing files are highlighted on the ■■■■-MAN PROGRAMS display. In order to load these missing files, after pressing any key to continue and displaying the INSTALL MENU, return to the ■■■■-MAN PROGRAMS edit by pressing [I] or [U] and then changing the LOAD status along with the desired PATH for each of these files. Home-HelpMenu INSTALL FUNCTION REMOVE OPTION MESSAGES System documentation is packed in the distribution .ZIP files and must first be unpacked before it can be printed. This option will unpack the system's documentation and tag it for later processing. Select the desired documentation processing method by pressing its highlighted letter or moving the highlight bar to it using the cursor control keys and press [ENTER]. To return to the INSTALL MENU without processing the documentation, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu INSTALL FUNCTION DOCUMENTATION OPTION The ORDER function will print an order form for registering ■■■■-MAN systems and/or for the current distribution diskette. To register any ■■■■-MAN system, first tag it using the TAG function. If more than one system is ordered, the price of each system after the first is decreased by $5.00. If one or more systems are ordered along with the current distribution diskette, the diskette price is decreased from $10.00 to $5.00. To cancel the order process at any point and return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION A registration option selection menu is displayed for each tagged system. To order the printed and bound manual along with registration for the highlighted system, press [ENTER]. To skip ordering the highlighted system, press [N]. To cancel this order and return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION REGISTRATION SELECTION The current distribution diskette contains the latest versions of the ■■■■-MAN shareware programs by Micrometric. Its price is $10.00 alone or $5.00 when ordered with any system. To skip ordering the current distribution diskette, press [N]. To order the current distribution diskette, move the diskette highlightto the desired diskette size and press [ENTER]. To cancel this order and return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION DISTRIBUTION DISKETTE SELECTION Sales tax need only be paid when an order is shipped to a Florida address. If you are a Florida resident, press [F]. If you are NOT a Florida resident, press [N]. To cancel this order and return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION SALES TAX SELECTION Shipping charges apply only to orders shipped outside the United States. If your shipping address is within the United States, press [N]. If your shipping address is outside the United States, move the shipping highlight bar to the desired option using the cursor control keys and press [ENTER]. To cancel this order and return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION SHIPPING SELECTION Four lines of name/address data are requested. By pressing only [ENTER]for each of these lines, underlines will be printed on the order form andthe required can be entered by hand. To enter the necessary data via computer, use the control keys noted onthe bottom help line and the standard alpha/numeric keys. To accept a line as entered, press [ENTER]. To cancel this order and return to the MAIN MENU, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION NAME/ADDRESS EDIT After all necessary order data has been entered a verify option selection menu is displayed. To print the order form with the data just entered, press [Y]. To cancel this order and return to the MAIN MENU, press [N] or [ESCAPE] Home-HelpMenu ORDER FUNCTION PRINT SELECTION The REGISTER function will, for each selected and tagged ■■■■-MAN system, accept entry of the serial number that is supplied upon system registration. This serial number will suppress display of the shareware message. When this function is selected, a registration number entry window is displayed for each tagged system. Enter the system's serial number from Page two of the the system manual using the numeric keys and the the cursor control keys shown on the bottom help line. To accept the registration number as edited, press [ENTER]. An infor- mational message will be displayed when the registration process is complete for this system. To cancel entry of this system's serial number, press [ESCAPE]. Home-HelpMenu REGISTER FUNCTION The EXIT function has no options and, when selected, exits the INST-MANprogram. After a shareware message is displayed, any requested document- ation is unpacked and processed. Home-HelpMenu EXIT FUNCTION If an error condition is encountered while transferring data to or fromthe disk drive, an informational message is displayed. To cancel this operation and exit from the program, press [ESCAPE]. To continue with the program, correct the error condition (close the floppy diskette door, etc.) and press any other key. If the system has no path statement, an error message is displayed and the installation program will terminate without installing ■■■■-MAN, since there are no subdirectories defined on which to install it. For proper operation, ■■■■-MAN MUST be placed on subdirectories that are referenced in a PATH statement. See a DOS manual for the syntax of this statement and include one in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file before running the install program again. Home-HelpMenu DISK/PRINTER NOT READY
