[HDNG]INTRODUCTION:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]S3[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Recent successes: rugby, football, rowing[ESTAT][PARA]One of the highest accolades in university sport (apart from being able to drink a pint of beer in under 3 seconds) is an Oxbridge 'blue'. To earn one of these, you've got to be selected for one of the University's major sports teams. These teams often compete on a first class level,[ITAL] which doesn't necessarily mean that they're better than all the other university teams, just they're highly respected and they expect highly. There are those of a cruel and malicious disposition who claim that the University admissions procedure becomes a whole lot more flexible if you have an international sporting reputation. [EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL] would (for legal reasons) like to distance itself from any suggestion of the sort. Suffice it to say that the University places emphasis and funding on its impressive record in sports both minor and major. Sport at a college level is more geared to fun and fitness and is very welcoming, even to students who are't quite Giggsy or Brian Lara. [EITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]All colleges have their own facilities to varying degrees and the University has an [ITAL]excellent [EITAL]range of central amenities: playing fields; sports halls; squash courts; athletics field; bowls and croquet in the quads; tennis courts; gym (with multigym); and, of course, the rivers Isis and Cherwell.
