To earn one of these, you've got to be selected for one of [PARA]the University's major sports teams. These teams often [PARA]compete on a first class level,[ITAL] which doesn't necessarily mean [PARA]that they're better than all the other university teams, just they're [PARA]highly respected and they expect highly. There are those of a [PARA]cruel and malicious disposition who claim that the University [PARA]admissions procedure becomes a whole lot more flexible if you [PARA]have an international sporting reputation. [EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL] would (for legal [PARA]reasons) like to distance itself from any suggestion of the sort. [PARA]Suffice it to say that the University places emphasis and funding [PARA]on its impressive record in sports both minor and major. Sport at [PARA]a college level is more geared to fun and fitness and is very [PARA]welcoming, even to students who are't quite Giggsy or Brian [PARA]Lara. [EITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]All colleges have their own facilities to varying degrees and the [PARA]University has an [ITAL]excellent [EITAL]range of central amenities: playing [PARA]fields; sports halls; squash courts; athletics field; bowls and [PARA]croquet in the quads; tennis courts; gym (with multigym); and, of [PARA]course, the rivers Isis and Cherwell.
