Otherwise, there's [ITAL]Brookes (cap 400, split level meat market, student night Thursdays, ú2, avoid all other times), The Empire (1,200, in Morecambe, free bus to/from campus, ú1 Wednesdays) and Carleton (1,050, ravey, student parties at the beginning and end of term). [EITAL]The John O'Gaunt occasionally features jazz, folk or blues, as does the Park Hotel. Cross-fertilisation only usually happens when there's an event on somewhere or students do 'The 9 Hole Golf Course' (a pint in each, ending at their own). There's also the ASH (Assistant Staff House) Bar for postgrads and staff.[PARA][BOLD]Theatre: [EBOLD]The Nuffield Studio is a flexible theatre space for student productions and visiting companies.[PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] Blockbusters and more are shown by [ITAL]one of the best equipped [EITAL]student film clubs in the country.[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos and music venues:[EBOLD] Thursday, Friday and Saturday the Sugar House (cap 1,000 see above) opens its doors and sometimes hosts live bands, [ITAL]but Lancaster isn't a crucial tour date on anybody's calendar and, eventually students get bored.[EITAL] It does, however, occasionally attract some bands from the big circuit, such as recently, Credit to the Nation, PWEI, and Pele. Also weekly classical concerts.[PARA][BOLD]Others:[EBOLD] Most weeks, there's something in at least one of the college bars (cabaret, competitions, theme parties, etc) and each year, there are at least 4 posh balls. The last week of the summer term is 'Extrav Week' - [ITAL]major party time[EITAL], culminating in a 'Summer Extrav' at each college (6pm-6am, drink, bands, DJs, drink, karaoke, food and drink).[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]Students forage for their vital victuals at the 2 refectories on campus and the various other sandwich bars in the colleges, which are generally open till around 7pm. There will be new eateries when the current redevelopment of Pendle College is completed. The restaurants in town are[ITAL] verily munchsome[EITAL], including the usual array of Indian, Italian, pizza places and takeaways. Late night cravings can be sated by calling for pizzas till 2am, at the Nice'n'Spicy Indian or at the local chippy until around 2am when the fry runs dry.
