[HDNG]ST DAVID'S UNIVERSITY COLLEGE STUDENTS' UNION/TY CEREDIG:[EHDNG][PARA][GRPH]P5[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] 3 sabbatical [BULL] Turnout at last ballot: 50% [BULL] Ave. turnout at General Meetings: 15% [BULL] NUS member [ESTAT][PARA][ITAL]Being such a small institution, it's not hard to maintain a high level of involvement in the SU and (almost) unanimous consent. This is because no-one gets too party political at Lampeter. It's all pretty liberal and tolerant. The SU sees itself as a services and welfare organisation, rather than a political body. The increasing number of students is causing concern because the facilities aren't keeping up.[EITAL][ITAL][HDNG]SU FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]The SU's has new purpose-built accommodation, providing a bar, cafeteria, restaurant, printing and photocopying, general shop, travel service, TV room, function room, customised night club (Union Hall), pool table, juke box and vending machines and minibus hire. The games arcade is the only one in Lampeter,[ITAL] and is popular with local kids who've broken their Megadrives.[EITAL][HDNG]CLUBS (NON SPORTING):[EHDNG][PARA]Alternative Film Club; Amnesty; Art; Dr Who; Debating; Juggling; Le Cercle Francaise; Plaid Cymru; Talking Hands.[HDNG]OTHER ORGANISATIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]3 times a term the SU publishes 'Union News'. '1822' is the College's satirical magazine, 4 times a term. Lampeter's Rag raised ú6,000 last year [ITAL]which isn't bad considering the number of people to raise money and to touch for cash[EITAL]. There is no student community group; good relations make it unnecessary but there are clubs which do voluntary work (see above).[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA][STAT][BULL] Chaplains (Christian)[ESTAT][PARA]The College has a chapel and mosque and there are local churches. [ITAL]Other religions will find a bit of a deity drought.[EITAL][HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA]The SU employs some student staff and there's a local organic farm, [ITAL]but we're not talking major opportunities here[EITAL].
