[EITAL] Often they host live music. [ITAL]Many are designed purely to part the tourist trade from their money. [EITAL][PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL]plugs: Mulligans (Irish, amazingly enough); Pig and Fiddle; Beehive; Bell; Crystal Palace (great ale).[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos:[EBOLD] [PUSH]push[EPUSH][ITAL]plugs; The Island Club (ú1, former toilet, honest!); The Hub (ú1.50, new, Bath's 1st chill-out zone); Swamp (ú1, studenty); The Moles Club (live bands, ú4).[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Others:[ITAL] [EITAL][EBOLD]Rainbow Over Bath, a combined programme of musical entertainment, takes place throughout the year.[PARA][PARA][ITAL][HDNG]UNIVERSITY:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA][ITAL][GRPH]E3[EGRPH][STAT][BULL] Price of a pint of beer: ú1.30 [BULL] Glass of wine: ú1.10[ESTAT][EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Bars:[EBOLD] After a long wait, the SU is just getting a bar/venue facility organised in the old refectory, with a capacity of 400, and 'an industrial feel', [ITAL]which doesn't mean you get groped by engineers. We hope.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Theatres:[EBOLD] Despite the fact that there are no real artists (a few linguists, though), the students still muster a little amusement from the muses. [ITAL]The level of involvement is better than many places where there's a particular arty clique[EITAL]. The Arts Barn has a fully equipped studio theatre and rehearsal space for drama, dance and music and an arts workshop. It's too small, though, and the University Hall also gets used as a theatre (cap 300). There's an open air amphitheatre by the lake used for smaller productions.[ITAL] Dramatic activity flourishes and there's a number of keeno musical and other creative art groups and opportunities for student exhibitions.[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Cinemas:[EBOLD] The film club shows movies at the Arts Barn, such as Basic Instinct, Patriot Games, and, ooh, crikey, Rocky Horror.[PARA][BOLD]Clubs/discos:[EBOLD] The SU has in the past used clubs in town for its Travoltonics, but the new venue should pull the pill-popping polka posse back to campus[ITAL].[EITAL][PARA][BOLD]Music venues:[EBOLD] Again, the University Hall is used very occasionally for gigs, [ITAL]but few students have shown any interest. [EITAL]K-Passa and the Funkin' Barstewards played at Freshers' Week. Big name bands aren't regular visitors.[PARA][BOLD]Others: [EBOLD]Plenty of balls, and occasional cabaret (eg Punt and Dennis).[HDNG]EATING OUT:[EHDNG][PARA]The University runs the main refectory and the Norwood Refectory ([ITAL]which has a somewhat measly menu[EITAL]) although it is currently not economic to keep both open. The SU runs a coffee bar till midnight. Other chow choices are in the town where Tarts and Pasta Galore are popular student haunts, and Schwartz does [ITAL]pretty decent [EITAL]burgers. Cafes and fast food are cheaper (sometimes) and in no short supply even till 4am in the centre.[PARA][PARA]
