  6. Roy Fredrick and Arthur White wrote about "Placenames in the US" and the 
  7. US Board of Place Names.  I tried it and it DOES work.  Since the 
  8. process was so simple, I asked if they minded my advertising the service 
  9. for them.  The response: "We really enjoy this part of our work".

  11. The researchers are very helpful and access both written and electronic 
  12. data when checking.  The process is simple - ask them for research on 
  13. the placename of interest.  The researcher will take your number and 
  14. call you back shortly (half-hour in my case) local or long-distance.
