  1. i ΓÇó claim offers a new way to visualize argumentΓÇöwith 6 tutorials, an illustrated glossary, and over 70 multimedia arguments.

  3. The tutorials offer concrete overviews and interactive assignments on fundamental qualities good arguments share. Arguments make claims. They come from a specific context. They are driven by clear goals. They use support carefully. They consider multiple viewpoints. And they use logic.

  5. The glossary defines and illustrates 50 key terms from argument theory and classical rhetoricΓÇötying each abstract concept to a contemporary visual example.

The arguments section provides direct access to all the multimedia arguments on iclaimΓÇöover 70 arguments in all. This flexible visual index lets you browse the incredible variety of texts in multiple ways: by genre and medium (ads, comics, speeches, commercials); by type of appeal (ethos, logos, pathos); and by purpose (proposal, definition, evaluation).

  15. Launching iclaim visualizing argument
  16. Windows
  17. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
  18. Double-click on the ΓÇ£My ComputerΓÇ¥ icon on your desktop.
  19. Double-click on the ΓÇ£iclaimΓÇ¥ CD-ROM icon in the ΓÇ£My ComputerΓÇ¥ window. (For most computers, the CD-ROM drive is designated the ΓÇ£DΓÇ¥ drive.)

  22. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
  23. Double-click on the ΓÇ£iclaimΓÇ¥ CD-ROM icon that appears on your desktop.

  25. NOTE: When you use iclaim, the CD-ROM must be in the CD-ROM drive.

  28. Responding to the ΓÇ£readΓÇ¥ and ΓÇ£composeΓÇ¥ assignments on iclaim
  29. Click on the notebook paper icon in the introductory text for the assignment section of the tutorial.
  30. In the pop-up window that appears, click in the desired questionΓÇÖs text box. Type in your answer.
  31. When you are finished responding to the questions, click on either ΓÇ£PrintΓÇ¥ to print out your answers or ΓÇ£EmailΓÇ¥ to email your answers. If you choose to email your answers, you will need to fill out the ΓÇ£ToΓÇ¥ and ΓÇ£FromΓÇ¥ email address forms. To print the visuals in the ΓÇ£composeΓÇ¥ assignment, click on the ΓÇ£print imageΓÇ¥ icon.
