Version: 1.2
Man-Eating Plants is FreeWare.
This means copyright, and all other rights, are retained and asserted by the author.
I am releasing Man-Eating Plants so that it can be freely copied and used,
but with the restriction that no changes be made to the program without
permission from myself. The program is defined as those files within the
!PlantEat directory.
The Plot
-=-=-=-=-=-
Having annoyed a wizard it is not surprising he would punish you... but even
so you are not overjoyed to find yourself being transported into an area
with a high population of nasties.
The Game
-=-=-=-=-=-
Scoot your figure round the screen without colliding into the Man-Eating
Plants or the monsters. Hide behind the plants so that the monsters foolishly
walk straight to their doom.
Objects
-=-=-=-=-
Monsters
These chase you round the screen intent on doing you harm.
They would prefer to eat you as plants and other monsters are not as
appetising.
Man-Eating Plants
These grow round the screen waiting for a meal to arrive.
They will eat anything.
Satiated Plants
These have already eaten and are to full to harm you or a monster.
Food
Eat the food for extra points.
Extra Life
Every five screens you get a chance at an extra life - don't blow it.
Clock
Collect this and you will find you can get twice as much done.
Controls For Figure
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
' Up
Z Left X Right
? Down
Other Keys
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Q - Sound off. S - Sound on.
P - Speaker off. O - Speaker on.
Pause - Delete. Un-Pause Copy.
Pressing 'f5' and 'f8' together - Quits current life.
Pressing Q or 'f12' on the title screen quits the program.
To exit the program from game you must first quit to title screen.
Hints
-=-=-=-
If you are running full pelt (ie you have the key pressed down) and wish to
turn then you can press the key for the turn whilst still pressing the
original key.
I have made the keys respond in this manner as it makes it easier to control
the figure when you are being chased etc..
The Author
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Paul wrote this game because he wanted to code something which would tell you
your position in the score table *as you play* (like Arcadians.)
Currently he has on hold a four-player platformer game which, if he
gets round to finishing it, will be very nice. He is also continually
developing his game !GunShip which is starting to look rather decent.
BTW He also rates !Invaders by Tim Puegniez as the best Arc FreeWare game so
far... anyone agree?
