1. History.
This program has been developed when I upgraded from my old A-1000
to the new A-2000 Rev6. Since this one has 1MB of ChipMem, quite a
number of SlideShow programs just didn't work anymore. Leaving me
with a large amount of picture disks that just crashed when tried
to run. Therefore I needed a quick and easy way to display all the
pictures on those disks to see if any were worth salvaging. Hence
PicFind. This program checks a (user-specified) directory for IFF
ILBM files. Any such files found will be automatically displayed.
(The time they are displayed defaults to 5 seconds, but may be set
by the user on running PicFind.)
Version History : V 1.0, August 1989
Lattice C, Some problems that crept up in PicFind
during development have been solved as
well as enhancements made.
- Interlace problem solved.
- Extra-HalfBrite support added. Needs
a CAMG chunk in the file though. If
no CAMG chunk then HAM mode is set.
( See the IFF specs on 'Fish 185'. )
There should be A CAMG chunk in all
ILBM's.
- HiRes OverScan problem not solved.
Seems to be Systems bug.
2. Usage
Usage : PicFind <DIRECTORY> [<DURATION>]
How to use this program? Well it is fairly simple. You may specify
the duration the picture is on the screen in seconds. If you don't
specify the duration, the program defaults to 5 seconds. As stated
above, the user has to specify a directory, which will be searched
for IFF ILBM files. Any such files found, will be displayed by the
program. It will tell you which file it is displaying, as well as
give a message if no IFF ILBM files could be found.
To clarify this I will give some examples.
Display all pictures in the directory DF0:Pics for 9 seconds each.
Command line : PicView DF0:Pics 9
Display pictures on drive df1: for 5 seconds each.
(Remember : 5 seconds is the program's default displaytime).
Command line : PicView df1:
Requirements:
- A standard Amiga with 512KByte of memory will suffice. Make sure
though, that there is enough free memory or the program aborts.
The program should support all regular Amiga devices. I tested it
with DF0: to DF3:, VD0:, VDK:, RAM:, CARD: and DH0: to DH2:. It is
compatible with both WorkBench 1.2 and 1.3. I haven not tested it
with 1.1 though. It also works on Amiga 2000 with 1 MB of ChipMem.
(Rev 6 and higher.)

5. BUG-Reports.
Known Bugs:
- PAL HiRes Overscan is not fully supported. The 'PAL' section of
the screen stays black. (On an Amiga 1000, as well as the 2000)
Irritating. This should not happen. Seems to be a systems bug,
since more programs seem to suffer from this. (wait for 1.4?)

No phone, not since some guy woke me at 04:00 AM ( My local time,
not his!). So, if you feel it is that urgent to call me you won't
mind taking the trouble of finding out my phonenumber. But PLEASE!
check the time-differences. I can get pretty uncooperative when
called out of bed in the middle of the night!
