  1. This is the first (and possibly only) release of Yahtzee.
  2. Yahtzee is also known as dice poker.  Full rules are available
  3. in the game by pressing 'b' at any time, and help is
  4. available at all times by pressing '?'.

  6. This version compiles and runs under HCR's Unix System V.3 port
  7. for the VAX, the CDC Unix System V.2 emulation for NOS/VE
  8. called VX/VE running on various Cyber machines, and
  9. Interactive's 386/ix Unix running on a 386 box.

  11. For BSD people the game has been ported to an IBM RT running
  12. BSD 4.3.
  13.  
  14. Yahtzee is likely to compile and run under anything that claims
  15. to be Unix.

  17. The Makefile will have to be altered, just follow the instructions
  18. in the file.
  19.  
  20. The high score file is configured in the Makefile and is
  21. created by the first person to run the program. If you want
  22. other people to use the score file chmod(1) the file accordingly.
  23. The program will still function if it can't access the high score
  24. file.

  26. If something doesn't work then send me the problem, or even better
  27. your fix, and something will be done for a later version.  The program
  28. has many bells and whistles so if you don't like Yahtzee you can
  29. still have fun discovering them.  Note: the shell window code
  30. hasn't been ported to BSD.
