@Contents
$ #MSIE cache browser#
This module allows to browse contents of Microsoft Internet Explorer
cache, the so called "Temporary Internet Files". Internet Explorer version 3
or higher must be installed on your system.
~Browse cache~@Browse@
~Repair cache~@Repair@
~Cache browser configuration~@Options@
@Browse
$ #Browse cache#
Internet cache can be displayed using two browse modes:
plain list of all cache entries or folders for different internet domains and sites.
~Details~@BrowseMode@.
Deletion of an entry removes both cached disk file and its entry in the cache index base.
In some cases Internet Explorer deletes a cached file, but the
entry corresponding that file is still remaining in the index base.
Plugin displays all such "stray" entries using "(missed)" file name.
~F7-Repair~@Repair@ command allows to remove all stray entries,
it can also fix some other problems with cache.
To refresh plugin panel contents use #Ctrl-R#.
To copy to clipboard URL for current cache entry use #Ctrl-Z#.
@BrowseMode
$ #Cache browse modes#
#Show plain cache structure# - displays simple list of all cache entries
sorted by URL. This is how the Windows Explorer can browse the "Temporary Internet Files" folder.
#Group cache entries by domains and sites# - much more convenient mode,
in which cache contents is grouped by internet domains and sites of the entries.
Root folder of the plugin panel contains folders for different domains,
each of the domain folders contains folders for all sites from that domain,
and each of the site folders contains all cache entries corresponding that site.
URL like "http://www.host.net:port/path" corresponds to the domain host.net
and site www.host.net:port.
This browse mode allows you to quickly delete all cache entries for
selected domains and sites. Use F3 to calculate total size of cached files
for selected domain/site.
@Repair
$ #Repair cache#
F7-Repair command performs cache analysis, then displays
detailed report about possible problems with internet cache
and allows you to fix found problems.
You may want to use this command from time to time to delete
corrupted cache data, it will help you to keep cache in a good state.
The following problems can be detected and fixed:
- #Cached files without an entry# - files that are not listed in cache
index base, so they are not longer accessible by internet browser.
For example, when you interrupt file transfer, Internet Explorer
does not index broken file, but often leaves it on disk.
- #Entries without a real file# - cache entries that refer to
nonexisting files. In any case IE will reload that files from internet,
so such stray entries are just a trash.
- #Entries with wrong file size# - entries which "file size" property
not equals to real size of cached file. IE may not display files
for such entries offline.
- #Entries with expiration date# - entries with "expiration time"
property set. IE may not process such entries offline.
In the Options section of dialog you must check which problems
should be corrected. "Files list" button allows to view list of stray files
to be deleted.
@Options
$ #Cache browser configuration#
In this dialog you may change the following options:
#Add to disks menu# Enables adding "IE cache" item to the disks
menu.
#Disks menu hotkey# Hotkey for the cache browser item in
the disks menu. This may be from 1 to 9
or leave this field empty to autoassign.
#Browse mode# You may choose one of the two ~browse modes~@BrowseMode@:
- show plain cache structure
- group cache entries by domains and sites
#Show cookies# Allows to display "cookie" entries on plugin
panel.
#Show cache entries# If checked, in the Detailed panel mode the
#info instead of# following cache information will be displayed
#files properties# in Modified, Created and Accessed columns:
- last synchronized time of the entry
- last modified time of the source file
- last accessed time of the entry
#Show <TITLE># Switches panel to "Long descriptions" view mode
#HTML tags# with displaying of HTML files titles in
additional column. Note that this option
significantly slows down cache scanning.
Next field sets width of titles column.
To autoassign this width set it to 0.
