If the data on your GCC hard disk is severely damaged or you need to change the interleave value, it may be necessary to format the hard disk. (Formatting actually clears out all of the bad blocks.) Since this procedure also erases all of the data on the hard disk, make sure you back up all of the information that you want to save. To format the hard disk, follow the steps to initialize (see the Initialize help topic), but click Format… instead of Initialize… in step 5. When the formatting is completed, a disk test is performed automatically and the GCC hard disk software drivers are reinstalled. Do not abort the disk test.
