Unison Maestro is an industrial-strength workload management solution for uNIX systems. Maestro can schedule jobs anywhere on the network according to customized business calendars, in addition to date, day of the week and time. While the UNIX `cron' utility provides only simple date-and time-based scheduling. Maestro can launch jobs automatically at hte end of the month or two weeks before the end of the fiscal year. Job initiation can also be dependent on the successful completion of other jobs, on the existance of needed files on any node in the network, on user response to a Maestro prompt, or on the availability of critical hardware or data resources.
