The Optical Conversion Unit, or OCU, is a SCSI hardware interface, connecting industry standard optical drives to a number of computers and operating systems, including Silicon Graphics. The OCU allows the optical disk to look and act just like a standard hard disk, without using software drivers. Eliminating software drivers eliminates any connectivity difficulties. Upgrading an operating system version, switching altogether will not adversely affect connectivity.
