This interface allows Contex to receive scanned line art at 2,000 dpi, and send final film separations to the Optronics plotter for plotting at 2,000 or 4,000 dpi and up to 300 line screen. Scanned line art and text can be tinted and trapped in the Contex software. Files that are sent to the Optronics plotters are in native format, eliminating the PostScript® Rip production time on the Optronics. The benefit is that the user sees the traps interactively in the Contex software, eliminating the plotting of files that are incorrectly trapped on desktop systems. The Optronics interface also features the advantage of symmetric multiprocessing at the plotting stage, as well as several different software Rips (Adobe).
