POET is a C++ Object DBMS that supports encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism. POET features include: object querying, sorting, indexing, transactions, class versioning, container classes, variable length string and BLOB types. POET comes as Personal Edition (single user) and Professional Edition (client/server architecture) and is available for SGI Irix 5.3, various other UNIX systems, Windows, Windows NT, Windows f. Workgroups, Novell (NLM), NeXT, Macintosh, PowerMac, Sun OS, Solaris, and OS/2. pOET is source compatible and supports heterogeneous networks. New POET 3.0 features include support for OLE and ODBC, schema versioning, check-in/check-out, on-line backup as well as a Developer Workbench that includes class and object browers.
