VIPAS - Standar UNIX provides user-based process accounting of system resources such as CPU time, memory usage, amount of I/O operations etc. for one host only. VIPAS extends these mechanisms to a cluster of heterogeneous UNIX workstations and servers by central integration of all resource information including disk space and usage of interactive programs in a platform independent database.
VIPAS provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface for detailed analysis of the accounting data.
By enhancing the UNIX group concept VIPAS also allows for project-based accounting delivering optimal cost transparency across the network.
