MAX-5 is a specialized software system that provides five-axis NC machining instructions for the flank milling of turbomachinery impellers, blisks, and blades. This system is the answer when general-purpose CAM proves too diffcult to apply. There are built-in features for the selection of cutter size, depth of cut, precision, finish, optimized cutter paths, and patented collision avoidance. A graphics postprocessor allows previewing of cutter paths with a shaded-surface representaion that includes both five-axis milling machine and the component to be milled.
