The FDM® 1600 system for rapid prototyping creates models and prototypes using a variety of materials ranging from investment casting to reinforced plastics. The low-cost modularity of the FDM 1600 makes it possible to increase the capabilities of the system as the complexity of prototyping needs develop. FDM models can be created in a matter of minutes and have a variety of applications: design verification, fit, form and function testing and making patterns for model making and investment casting. The designed object is produced as a solid three dimensional part in a single process without the need for tooling.
