dVS is a platform-independent software environment for virtual applications. Based on a distributed, multi-user architecture, dVS provides a natural model for virtual environment simulation and rapid application development. It consists of both a runtime module providing all services necessary for complete VR, and a C developer's library and tools for accessing the runtime module.
dVS supports fully-immersive or flat-screen VR on all SGI platforms from Indy to ONYX and all graphics options from Indy to RealityEngine2. It takes advantage of multiple-processor and multiple-channel systems for maximum performance. It supports a wide variety of VR peripherals.
