The Human Interface Data Acquisition System (HIDAS) is a low cost data acquisition interface for devices that operate in human time frames. HIDAS connects analog and digital switches, dials, lamps, and controls to a VME-based host computer. HIDAS consists of a single 6U VME controller board connecting to up to 128 node cards via a 500 KBit/sec serial bus. Node cards can be centrally located or distributed up to 50 feet apart using twisted pair cables. Built-in test verifies node addressing, node input and output connections and link controller memory integrity. Each node card has LEDs to indicate power and status.
