The MATLAB® Symbolic Math Toolbox and Extended Symbolic Math Toolbox further the MATLAB Technical Computing Environment to provide powerful symbolic computation. The toolbox provides MATLAB commands for over 50 of the most common symbolic math operations, such as integration, differentiation, symbolic linear algebra, and simplification of expressions, and is the only product to provide symbolic computation and high-performance numeric computation in a single integrate environment. The toolboxes are based on an embedded version of Maple V, developed by Waterloo Maple Software, and also provide access to the full Maple core library and linear algebra library. The Extended Symbolic Math Toolbox adds access to the full range of specialized Maple function packages and to Maple programming capabilities. The toolboxes are open and extensible, allowing users to modify functions to suit specific applications.
