Postalsoft's Directory Software (DRS) provides address processing capabilities to OCR/ICR applications. As users scan machine-printed and hand-printed forms into their desktop OCR/ICR engines, the DRS locates and processes each address before the information enters a database. The system takes the data and compares it against elements of a database to improve performance and reliability. For instance, it can compare addresses to the U.S. Postal Service database of all deliverable addresses in the nation for the most accurate coding and correction possible. The DRS corrects and standardizes addresses, and adds accurate ZIP+4 Codes and delivery-point barcode information.
