The Viper-5 is a compact and economical vector processing system designed to meet the demands of the high-end scientific user by attaching to workstations as a fast back-end scientific processor.
The Viper-5 features up to 5 GFLOPS processing power (1M CFFT in 21 msec), 2 GB of system memory, 6 x 200 MB/second I/O ports, 1000 MB/sec system bandwidth, and full program development software and scientific math library.
The Viper-5 connects to SGI systems via VMEbus or HIPPI interface hardware. The system is optimized for fast data throughput, and can be used for both real-time and high-end vector processing applications.
