The SAM-300 is a high-performance, multi-ported, solid-state memory system for data acquisition, RAM disk and shared memory applications. The SAM-300 can hold up to eight gigabytes of memory, can support an aggregate bandwidth of 1000 Megabytes/second and offers eight I/O ports. Each I/O port can sustain up to 200 megabytes per secoond into or out of SAM-300 memory. The SAM-300 connects to SGI equipment via HIPPI or VME bus interface hardware. SAM-300 software supports transparent disk emulation for ease of use or DMA access via subroutine call for specialized applications.
