ACUCOBOL®-85 is an ANSI standard COBOL compiler that produces compact, highly optimized machine-independent object code. With ACUCOBOL-85, users can develop COBOL applications and execute them without recompiling on over 600 different platforms including MS-DOS, NETBIOS, OS/2, UNIX, Windows, WindowsNT, and Open VMS operating systems. ACUCOBOL-85's interchangeable file system, Vision, provides sophisticated file and record compression control and can run with, or be replaced by, industry standard file systems such as C-ISAM, Btrieve, and MINISAM, and relational database systems.
ACUCOBOL-85 enables easy updates of COBOL applications with modern features such as help screens, pop-up/pull-down menus, and mouse support.
