ie is a mature X text editor. It operates efficiently even on minimally-configured workstations and X terminals. Typical users include programmers, scientists, and system administrators.
Users can navigate up to ten distinct file lists concurrently via the keyboard and/or an inverted file selection box. Other features include: column-oriented copy, cut, and paste; extensive, including column-orientated, search and replace; dynamic secondary edit windows; full compiler support; extensive UNIX filter operations; easy to use external macro language plus viewable, editable, playback macro facility; highly configurable via 140+ X resources; full user- and system-level keyboard and macro configuration.
