EiffelStore provides a set of classes for writing object-oriented applications that need to handle persistent objects. It handles interfacing with several standards DBMS (Oracle, Sybase, Versant) ensuring true portability of database applications. Depending on generality and performance requirements and its dependence on external data formats, EiffelStore enables programming at any of three interface levels: EiffelStore layer - encapsulates general primitives that manage the object manipulation session and deal with high-level persistency primitives. Standard layer - offers an implicit storage mechanism and enables easy storage and retrieval of networks of objects into files. DBMS layer - allows to store and retrieve objects into and from different data base.
