The Amsterdam Compiler Kit (ACK) provides an integrated collection of programs designed to help create portable (cross) compilers and interpreters. In addition to this set of tools for creating new compilers, ACK is shipped with six language front-ends for C, ANSI C, Pascal BASIC, Modula-2, and Occam, as well as many code generators and assembler/linkers, all written in C.
ACK is designed to meet the needs of three different groups of developers: those developing new languages or modifying old ones, those who want cross-development facilities on their UNIX computers for existing languages and CPUs, and those at universities who teach compiler design, develop compilers for new languages and create back ends for new machines.
