For Tech Heads Only

The ClickLink system features four ISDN lines, a multiplexer, application software, and an AVID non-linear digital video editing system on either end as a codec. Both AVID systems utilize a fast 100 Mhz PentiumĀ® computer with one external interface to the ISDN lines. The systems rely on algorithms for video and audio to achieve very high quality via a 15 to 1 lossless compression. Working with four ISDN lines allows ClickLink users to achieve 700 kilobits per second with compression on a point-to-point basis. Recording A/V is captured in realtime and converted at a rate of 4 megabits a second in its compressed form. The ClickLink system uses DirectRoute, a connection-oriented router from Symplex Communications, to transmit video and audio data quickly and inexpensively over multiplexed ISDN phone lines. TCP/IP networking is integrated for additional connectivity.
