egcs-1.1.2: description + notes

EGCS (pronounces 'eggs', the 'c' is silent) is the acronym for Experimental GNU Compiler System. EGCS is an open source, GNU based, project coordinated by Cygnus.

EGCS constitutes an enhanced distribution of the GNU compilers including all the language front-ends and advanced optimizations. For full details please refer The EGCS home page

This version is configured to produce IRIX MIPS n32 objects by default and also supports n64 binaries. It requires the SGI assembler and linker, which are included by default with every SGI IRIX 6.5 system on the Development Foundation CD and which is available for free from SGI by contacting the SGI developer's program.
